TRY BEING ALIVE IN THIS WORLD

TRY BEING ALIVE IN THIS WORLD
(12:53)

Carnahan’s satyrical dystopic aural-gymnastic prose-poems are dazzlingly performed by Wiseman’s disc jockey / cult leader / ten-year-old-girl / Delphic oracle-voiced characters, swathed in Deane’s electro-acoustic sound storms.

The audio disc, “Try Being Alive in THIS World,” was adapted from the Burning Books video/audio installation, “See You in Hell,” which premiered at MOV-iN Gallery, College of Santa Fe, 11 Dec 2006. It was described as “a stupefying ride in a shopping cart shortly before the end of the world. Rolling past miles of plastic toys, questionable food, and florescent boxes of powerful cleaning agents, growing feelings of suffocation and panic are soothed by the carefully programmed announcements coming through the loudspeakers. Will we be punished later or is this it?”
